STANDING RULES GOVERNING
THE AWARDING
OF THE "KODAK" CHALLENGE CUP
(effective 10/1/99) 
- The Rules
- The "Kodak" Challenge Cup is an annual trophy which shall be awarded each year at
the
February meeting of the Golden State Bull Terrier Club.
- Competition for this cup is open to all Bull Terriers, imported or native born and
owned by members or non-members of the Golden State Bull Terrier Club.
- Administration
Upon assuming office, or as soon thereafter as practicable, the President shall appoint a
Challenge Cup Administrator. The Administrator has the authority and the duty of
administering
the Challenge Cup Programs, of making periodic status report of point standings in the Caller,
and of resolving any disputes or ambiguities arising under these rules prior to awarding the
Challenge Cups at the February meeting.
- Qualifying Shows
The AKC licensed shows which qualify for competition are limited to the following counties in
Southern California:
Fresno, Imperial, Kings, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego,
San
Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura.
The actual show site of the qualifying shows must be located within the above geographical
boundaries. the name of the kennel club will have no particular effect as to whether the show
is
included.
- The Show Year
The show year shall run from October of one year to September of the following year,
inclusive.
- The Point System
- Any Bull Terrier placing in the Terrier Group will be given challenge cup
points as follows:
Group 1 - 25 points
Group 2 - 15 points
Group 3 - 10 points
Group 4 - 5 point
Best in Show will be awarded fifty (50) points.

- In the event of a tie between two or more Bull Terriers, the last eligible show of the
year shall be considered eliminated from the count. Should the tie still exist, the
penultimate
show shall be eliminated and so forth until a winner is determined.
- Computation and Awards
- The Challenge Cup Administrator shall compute all the points during the year based
on the official reports published in the AKC Gazette, or, upon an allegation that the
information in the Gazette is incorrect or incomplete, then by the best means available upon
proper investigation.
- The Bull Terrier winning the most points shall be awarded the "Kodak" Challenge
Cup by having its name engraved upon the cup or stand of the trophy.
- A commemorative plaque shall be given each year to the owner(s) of the
previous year's winner provided the owners are members in good standing of the Club
and were members of the Club at the time the Challenge Cup was awarded. Should a
non-member wish to obtain a commemorative plaque, he may do so at his own expense.
Only
one plaque will be given each winner.
- There shall be no limitation of the number of times a dog or bitch may win the
"Kodak"
Challenge Cup.
- Care and Custody
- The recipients of the "Kodak" Challenge Cup shall retain it for approximately one year
and shall promptly return it to the Challenge Cup Administrator, upon request, at lease one
month prior to the following February meeting.
- All Challenge Cups are the permanent property of the GSBTC and no winner,
regardless of the number of wins, may retain permanent possession of any Challenge Cup.
- All Challenge Cups must be claimed, in person, at the February meeting unless
otherwise approved, in advance, by the Challenge Cup Administrator.
- All recipients will be required to acknowledge receipt of the Challenge Cups by
signing a form or register developed for that purpose.
- No Challenge cup will be given to the custody of any member with less than two
(2) years of good standing nor to any member residing outside California.
- Non-members winning Challenge Cups are not eligible to have custody of
the cups, although the names of their dogs will be engraved on the Cups.
- Cups not given into the custody of the winners will be safeguarded and retained
by one of the officers of the Club or the Challenge Cup Administrator, as directed by the
President.
- Publicity
The name of the winner of the "Kodak" Challenge Cup shall be published in the
January/February
issue of the Caller.
